Whether you'd like to learn the basics of glazing, or take your surface decoration to the next level, Larissa will take you through all the techniques to get the results you want. This course will cover the following topics:
- Dipping basics
- Spraying on glazes for a flawless finish
- Layering glazes safely
- Cone 10 results vs Cone 6 results
- Applying underglazes
- Using oxides to pick out texture
- Crawl glaze - spraying underglazes, then applying a crawl glaze for a unique look
- Using the WSP limited time glazes (Abbots etc)
- Buying commercial glazes - suitable temperatures, mixing powdered glazes, brushing on glazes
- Making & using cookies
- Trouble-shooting – unwanted crawling, dunting, shivering etc
Bring your bisqued pieces, any glazes you have and all your glaze ideas and questions. You may also want to bring an apron or an old towel with you, as potting is a lot of fun and a little messy!
Your Tutor
Larissa is an experienced potter with a particular interest in making her own glazes. Her teaching style is informative and relaxed.
Terms and Conditions
The Waikato Society of Potters (WSP) reserves the right cancel a class if it fails to achieve minimum enrolment numbers, for reasons outside of our control. A full refund will be given if the class is cancelled by the WSP less a 5% credit card fee. If a student cancels their enrolment within 72 hours of the first class starting, no refund will be given. If a student cancels their booking less than 7 days prior to the event a 50% administration charge will be deducted from the refund. Should a student cancel their enrolment any time prior to the above a 20% administration fee will be deducted from the refund.
WSP does not provide makeup sessions or credits for classes that you have missed due to your personal circumstances,less
