We are lucky enough to have the talented Scott Brough coming to take a workshop on Saturday 23rd of September from 2-6pm.
Scott (@scottyb.nz) is a potter living in Hastings/Heretaunga, particularly inspired by Japanese and Korean ceramics, as well as folk pottery traditions from around the world. Scott makes functional pottery, approaching it with flair, style and playfulness. Since completing the Otago Polytechnic Diploma of Ceramic Art in 2018, Scott's work has been featured in many exhibitions and is available in a number of shops and galleries around Aotearoa.
The workshop itself will be taken as a demonstration of Scott's unique style and process with a focus on preparing and choosing clay and materials alongside his approach to handles, trimming and throwing on the kick wheel.
This workshop is suitable for all skill levels and is not strictly limited to potters. If you are interested in wild clay, groggy clays, gas firing, Japanese pottery, throwing on the kick wheel or want to be inspired and add a bit of play to your practice, this is the perfect workshop.
Note* There will be work by the artist available to view and purchase on the day.
