A member-only event.

If you haven't been part of a raku firing before, they are fun, dramatic, and yield unpredictable but breathtaking results.

Get involved with handling glowing things! Our raku expert, David, will run this event providing our members with an opportunity to fire a few items.

Information session - 1st March 6:00pm - 6:30pm 

Bring:

Bring bisque fired work that is thin and even. Small stuff survives while bigger things benefit from a good Raku clay.  Pieces under 180mm. Raku glazes are labelled and in kiln room for use. Areas left unglazed will be blacks and greys. Glossy copper gives best results in its own (no glaze under or over). Dark colours don't show the crackle as well. Bigger, smooth areas are more likely to crackle.  Raku glazes will damage other kilns so glaze pieces to be stored in area designated by Steve. Some glazing can be done on the day but hopefully most will be done before so it is dry and we can start firing straight away.

Costs:

To book, a non-refundable $6 booking fee is required which also covers your Open Studio session for the evening.
